National Preparedness Month

September is National Preparedness Month. The height of hurricane season is fast approaching and there’s an ongoing threat of wildfires and flooding in many areas of the country. Therefore, the IRS is urging you to develop an emergency preparedness plan, or if you already have one, update it for 2022. Specifically, it’s critical to secure and duplicate essential tax and financial documents, create a list of assets and property and know where to find the records if a disaster occurs. In the aftermath of a disaster, having updated documents and other information readily available can help you apply for relief available from the IRS and other agencies.
