Employee health benefit limits updated for 2025

Employers and employees, take note: The IRS has released 2025 inflation-adjusted limits for employee health benefits. Workers who defer earnings to health flexible spending arrangements can contribute as much as $3,300 in 2025 (up from $3,200 in 2024). And for plans that allow carryover of unused amounts, the 2025 carryover maximum will be $660 (up from $640 in 2024). Participation in medical savings accounts will be limited to employees with health plan deductibles of at least $2,850 but not more than $4,300 ($5,700 and $8,550 for family coverage). Finally, the out-of-pocket expense limit for individuals will be $5,700 ($5,500 in 2024). For families, it will be $10,500 ($10,200 in 2024).
