Uploads to the IRS hits the one million mark

The IRS’s Document Upload Tool (DUT) has now surpassed one million submissions since it launched in 2021. During the first six months of fiscal year 2024, more than 265,000 taxpayers used the tool. The DUT offers taxpayers and tax professionals the option to respond digitally to eligible IRS notices by securely uploading required documents online through the IRS’s website. The IRS estimates that more than 94% of individual taxpayers have the option of no longer having to send mail to the IRS. This could potentially replace up to 125 million paper documents per year, easing the paperwork burden for both taxpayers and the IRS. For more information on the DUT: https://bit.ly/3X5rlFg
