Taxpayers affected by recent events in Israel may qualify for tax relief, according to a new IRS notice. Affected individuals and businesses will have until Oct. 7, 2024, to file returns and make payments that originally were due on or after Oct. 7, 2023, and before Oct. 7, 2024. This includes 2022 returns that qualified for extensions to Oct. 16, 2023, but not 2022 payments. Also, penalties for not making payroll and excise tax deposits due on or after Oct. 7 and before Nov. 6, 2023, will be abated so long as taxpayers make deposits by Nov. 6. The IRS says it’s monitoring events in the Middle East and may provide additional tax relief in the future. For details: https://bit.ly/479UXTR
