Filing Date Coming for Spring Storm relief states

The IRS is reminding residents and businesses in parts of four states that their extended 2022 tax filing due date is coming up fast on July 31, 2023. Taxpayers in certain counties in Arkansas, Indiana, Mississippi and Tennessee were granted extensions (see eligibility, https://bit.ly/3rundkh  ) following severe spring storms. Among other things, this due date applies to individual income tax returns and payments originally due April 18, estimated payments due April 18 and June 15, and payroll and excise tax returns due May 1. If you need more time, file an extension request on paper using IRS Form 4868. This gives you until Oct. 16 to file returns. However, any tax owed is still due July 31.
